The A & P Sommer Foundation is pleased to announce its first international research partnership. The Foundation has provided funding for a study by Denver University’s Institute for Human-Animal Interaction (link) at Green Chimneys, a unique school (elementary, middle, and high school) located in Brewster, New York where interaction with animals and nature are the basis of remarkable alternative education programs. The research aims to find out just how effective animal-assisted and nature-based interventions are to help children to overcome learning or behavioral difficulties.
Non-invasive cameras installed in classrooms will enable the researchers to study children’s behavior before and after animal interaction or nature-based activities.
